Letter to the Community - April 2011

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Souderton Community Pool,

We wish to extend a major thank you to each person and business that supported the initial “Make Your Splash” capital campaign in 2010. The response was outstanding…in a poor economy and in a small town; many steps were achieved together as a team in unison. As we enter the 2nd year of our 3 year capital campaign, we raised a dramatic $500,000 in grants, donations, in-kind services, and pledges towards our $1 million goal.

The next step of this campaign is focused on raising the rest of the money to reach the ultimate goal necessary to open the newly renovated pool by Memorial Day, 2011. The committee is looking for other financial help, but we also hope to receive more financial support from community individuals and local organizations like you - it is that simple!

Souderton’s pool project will give your family, friends and neighbors outstanding recreational benefits and fun beyond compare:

Souderton’s history has grown a hundred-fold since its early charter in 1887 and the borough’s success cannot stop because of lack of pool funding…our community and especially, our kids, families, and seniors need a summertime pool for recreational and competitive swimming. In addition, a community pool makes an exciting drawing card to families looking to move into the Souderton area.

There is a list of special giving opportunities, items of over $1,000 that any one on the pool fundraising committee would be happy to speak to you about. Categories are listed on the pool web site along with lots of other pool information www.soudertonpool.com. Fundraising Chair, Jeff Gross at 215.450.0950 would be happy to speak to you as well as Mike Coll, Souderton Borough Manager, about the progress of the pool or giving opportunities. Mike’s contact phone number is 215.723.4371.

Help preserve the legacy of Souderton Community Park & Pool---the recreational swimming and public gathering space since 1928 that contributed to the happy summers many of you enjoyed in your youth. Swimming is a lifetime sport for all ages! Let us get more community support in 2011 and 2012 and gain broad “ownership” of this project for years to come.

Please send a gift today of whatever you can afford to bring the dreams of hope to thousands of people of Indian Valley…children, teenagers, adults and seniors alike. An aqua green self-addressed 2011 “Make Your Splash” envelope is included in this mailing; I ask you to mail it back to us today.

Join us…send a gift today... we need you… Thank you!

With many thanks,

John R. Reynolds, Mayor of Souderton 215-723-4371 &

Jay R. Stover, Mayor of Telford - Honorary Chairmen 215-723-5000
