Letter to the community

May 27, 2010

Dear Friends of Souderton Community Pool,

The town of Souderton, with a population of approximate 6770 residents, made a monumental decision in year 2005 when it decided to renovate its community pool…the pool that is a great asset to the town… just as the entire park system is a great asset to the community-at-large. Our hopes are not for minor changes but we need major changes!

First, we are writing to you today to say a big thank you for your early pool support.

Second, in this letter we listed some of the prime areas we plan to improve in the pool renovations for the residents of Souderton, Telford, Franconia and surrounding communities:

- updated filtration system with additional filters
- entire new concession stand and an accompanying updated, healthier menu
- large slide in upper pool and other water features
- safer diving well built to specifications (for competitive swim meets)
- larger, more modern bathhouse for females and males

Souderton’s history has grown a hundred-fold since its early charter in 1887 and the Borough’s success cannot stop because of lack of pool funding…our community and especially, our kids, families, and seniors need a summertime pool.

What is the next step? The next step is to raise the $1 million in addition to what is being funded by the Borough. We are the honorary chairs of the capital campaign called, Make Your Splash, and we are asking you to support this project in any way you can.

There is a list of special giving opportunity items of over $1000 that any one on the pool fundraising committee would be happy to speak to you about. A self-addressed solicitation envelope is included in this mailing that we ask you to mail back to us with your gift by the weekend of July 4, 2010.

Please help preserve the legacy of Souderton Community Park & Pool---the recreational swimming and public gathering space that contributed to the summers many of you enjoyed in your youth. Swimming is a lifetime sport! Let’s harness community support now and gain broad “ownership” of this project for years to come.
